I will be elaborating on these myths on my next post, but here’s 5 of the most common debt misconceptions.
Are any of these holding you back?
During my payoff journey, I believed all these myths at some point or another.
At times, I tried to justify my debt and rationalize it by the fact that so many people I knew were also in debt. Not only that, but when I started researching how debt is normal, I realized that statistically speaking, most people around me were carrying some form of debt themselves!
There were days, and even months, in which I felt completely defeated.
I felt that I had no control over my debt and that I couldn’t tell anyone about what I was going through. I believed, falsely, that whatever led me to accumulate a ton of debt could never be changed.
All these misconceptions kept me trapped inside my own mind. Paralyzed by fear and isolated by shame.
However, once I started changing my perspective on my situation, I was able to make different choices, which led to different outcomes.
I made a decision to become debt free, threw everything I had into it, and tracked my progress.
Today, I am totally debt free!
