I know the feeling – you spend so much time at work that by the time you get home at night you’re already exhausted. If working more hours is out of the question, then how are you supposed to bring in extra income?
I’m glad you asked, because many years ago, that was my story.
However, at some point, my internal light bulb turned on.
I realized that many of my friends felt the same way. More specifically, many of my mom friends felt the same way.
So what did I do?
I leveraged their lack of time.
It started with an informal conversation.
One of my friends was telling me how she didn’t have time to take her son to the local museum.
I casually said, “well, I’d also like to take my son there. If you’d like, your son can tag along and you can just pay for his entrance”.
Guess what?
Not only did she do that, she also gave me extra money that more than covered my gas and other expenses.

How to Make More Money on the Side
An easy way to make more money on the side without killing yourself working day and night is using the time you were going to use anyway to provide value to the people in your circle.
Here’s some examples:
Be a Dog Walker
Do you walk your dog every evening?
Ask your neighbors or put up flyers and walk other dogs alongside yours.
Or if you’re going to take your dog to the vet or the groomer, offer to take someone else’s dogs as well for a fee.
The investment is minimal (perhaps a dog leash or a cover for your car), and you get to save someone time and hassle while making some extra money.
Become a Babysitter
Do you spend a lot of time with your children?
Offer your services as a babysitter to watch your other children during those same time blocks.
If you prefer to take them to an activity like I did, check out Viator for discounted tours, attractions and tickets to hundreds of kid-friendly venues.
Teach Something
Is there a subject matter you know a lot about?
Offer your knowledge to your friends for a fee over coffee. You make extra money and get to connect with them – win-win!
Need a refresher on said subject matter?
Take an online course from Lorman, a continuing education provider that offers thousands of courses in a wide array of subjects and in various formats.
Don’t feel comfortable offering your services to your friends?
Try offering your services on Fiverr. You can choose to offer a service that will take you a few minutes to do and will provide value to someone else.
Make Money on the Side as a Personal Assistant
Are you really good and efficient at shopping? Become a personal shopper while you’re shopping for yourself.
Don’t think there’s a market for it? Think again.
One of the easiest jobs I ever had was as a Personal Assistant. It consisted of grabbing lunch, picking up dry-cleaning and shopping for my boss.
I often lumped my errands with whatever
I had to do for my boss, so I didn’t have to spend a ton of extra time on those tasks.
Make Items to Sell
Do you enjoy crafts or baking? Sell batches of cookies or easy-to-do crafts
Better yet, involve your kids or other family members in the process so it doubles as bonding time!
Keep your eyes open for opportunities like this.
As you go through your daily routine, you will find pockets of time that you can spend providing a service people are willing to pay for without doing anything other than what you would have been doing to begin with.
As for me, running small errands and taking my friends’ children to fun places proved to be an easy, and enjoyable, way to make more money on the side – fast!
Still need cash fast but don’t think these ideas could work for you?
